I was about 10 years old when the Beatles hit the Ed Sullivan show. I had been playing the accordion for a few years and somehow convinced my parents to trade it in for an electric guitar -- a Sears Silvertone with the amp built into the case. I joined my first band: Larry and the Don Johns (we practiced at Larry's house so ....)
Fast forward 60 years: I've retired from the corporate life and absolutely thrilled that at the very hip age of 70, I am discovering more sounds on the guitar, hearing more songs in my head and building better melodies ever before. I hope that my music today is an accurate reflection of my life. I try to build motion, movement and space into each song. Most pieces are improvised new each night around a core idea that tends to evolve over the years (I've been playing one of these core ideas since 1973, so it's called Albany 73 -- can you guess where I lived when I wrote it?).
I am always available for bookings, private events and collaborations -- don't hesitate to give me a shout.
As Tony Bennett tried to tell Amy Winehouse: "Life will teach you how to live it if you give it enough time".
