I was 12 years old
When the Beatles first hit the Ed Sullivan show. Already a good salesman, I convinced my parents that I really should trade the accordion I had been playing in on an electric guitar. Like most boys my age, I learned 3 chords and joined a band -- Larry and the Don Johns (we practiced at Larry house and there were two "Johns". We were awful.)
It has now been 60 years and I've never lost my love for music, discovering the guitar, or exploring new sounds.
These days, I am performing solo instrumental guitar using a variety of loopers and samplers. I am also working my way through the 12 Powers of Unity -- creating musical meditations to help me understand and utilize these gifts that we all have.
To everything turn, turn, turn
On January 24, 2015 I suffered the "widow maker" -- a 99% blockage of my left coronary artery -- while racing a sailboat 12 miles offshore. By the grace of God (and 2 Navy Seals), I am still enjoying life.
It has taken 10 years and a lot of learning-the-hard-way on my part but I am happier than I can remember, mostly healthy and - most importantly - I wake up each morning ready for a new adventure.
